Six-month pause in Giant AI Developments

Elon Musk and a group of AI experts are calling for a six-month pause in AI developments more powerful than GPT-4, they said in an open letter, citing potential risks to society and humanity.

The list of signatories includes the names of more than 1,125 people alongside Musk, including Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak, Sapiens author Yuval Noah Harari, and more…

As of now, no OpenAI employees have signed the letter, although CEO Sam Altman’s name briefly appeared before disappearing from the list of signatories.

There's no way Microsoft is letting this momentum go. They have waited years for this and have invested money in the right places.

Someone please explain to me how this would even be possible. The train has already left the station.
